The top spot for 2022 was taken by "Jujutsu Kaisen."

The series secured the top spot for the second consecutive year, following its 2021 success. In 2022, "Jujutsu Kaisen" gained momentum as it concluded the "Shibuya Incident," which the author referred to as the first major climax, and entered the second major climax, the "Culling Game" arc. Additionally, the movie released at the end of 2021 was a massive hit, grossing 13 billion yen.

"Jujutsu Kaisen," the first serialized work by author Gege Akutami, began its serialization in "Weekly Shonen Jump" in March 2018. The dark fantasy series follows high school student Yuji Itadori, who enters a world of battles against curses after the seal of a powerful cursed object is broken. The series was highly anticipated from the start, with its original story, sharp dialogue, and unique character design receiving praise during the decision-making meeting, where the editorial department unanimously decided to serialize it.

The first season of the anime began airing in 2020.
In 2021, the movie "Jujutsu Kaisen 0" was released.
In 2023, the second season of the anime was broadcast,
and the series grew into such a popular work that it was featured in the Guinness World Records as "The Most In-Demand TV Anime Show in the World."
