Voice actors Maaya Uchida (35) and Kaito Ishikawa (31) appeared together on October 9 at the Japan premiere of Tron: Ares, which opens simultaneously in Japan and the United States on October 10. The two, who provide the Japanese dubbed voices for key characters in the film, appeared in public as a married couple for the first time since announcing their marriage on September 30.

Ishikawa entered first, gently escorting Uchida to the stage. Both sported matching wedding rings, and their affectionate demeanor drew warm smiles from the audience. When the hosts offered congratulations, fellow voice actor Junichi Suwabe cheerfully thanked everyone on their behalf, adding a touch of humor to the moment.

“It’s our first joint appearance as a couple,” Suwabe said with a grin. Ishikawa, slightly flustered, admitted, “We’re not usually nervous at events, but this time we kept saying to each other right up until the last minute, ‘I’m so nervous.’” He went on to add with a laugh, “In the movie, our characters are on opposing sides, but in real life, we’re getting along just fine.” Uchida blushed and exclaimed, “That’s embarrassing!”

Suwabe, who had not known about their marriage beforehand, reacted with surprise: “You should have told me earlier! You didn’t say a word during recording, so I was totally shocked.” Still smiling, he added, “I just gave them a wedding gift earlier today.”

Maaya Uchida is a popular voice actress known for roles such as Ranko Kanzaki in The Idolmaster Cinderella Girls and Rikka Takanashi in Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions. Her younger brother is fellow voice actor Yuma Uchida. Kaito Ishikawa is also a well-known voice actor, recognized for roles including Tenya Ida in My Hero Academia, Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero, and Sakuta Azusagawa in the Rascal Does Not Dream series.

Tron: Ares, the latest entry in the series that began with the 1982 film Tron, explores what happens when a highly advanced AI program invades the real world. The story follows Ares, a humanoid AI who possesses immense power, speed, and intelligence, capable of regenerating endlessly. When these AIs spiral out of control, the boundary between digital and physical worlds begins to blur—and Ares, who begins to understand human emotions, faces a profound choice between destruction and salvation. Uchida voices Eve in the Japanese dub, while Ishikawa voices Julian Dillinger.
