Voice Actor Katsuyuki Konishi Unearths 16-Year-Old Photo as a Shocker Combatant — His Kamen Rider History Revealed
The “Kamen Rider History” video featuring Katsuyuki Konishi, who voices the protagonist Tanzaburo Tojima in the anime Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider, has been released. The footage includes a rare photo from 16 years ago, when Konishi appeared as a Shocker combatant in Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders vs. Dai-Shocker.

Katsuyuki Konishizu's Kamen Rider History
Konishi’s involvement with the Kamen Rider franchise began in 2009 with the theatrical release of Kamen Rider Decade: All Riders vs. Dai-Shocker, in which he portrayed a Shocker soldier. Years later, he returned to the world of Kamen Rider as the voice behind the transformation belt in Kamen Rider Gotchard (2023).
Now, in 2025, Konishi steps into the role of a man who “wanted to become Kamen Rider” , marking his third connection to the franchise. To commemorate the premiere of the new anime, a special “history” video was released, showcasing rediscovered photos of Konishi striking a pose as a Shocker combatant in 2009, the transformation belt from Kamen Rider Gotchard, and even a shot of Konishi wearing a Kamen Rider No.1 mask, much like his character Tanzaburo Tojima. The video highlights his long-standing bond with the Kamen Rider legacy.
Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider follows Tanzaburo Tojima, a 40-year-old man who still dreams of becoming a Kamen Rider. Just as he begins to give up on that dream, he becomes caught up in a series of crimes involving a “Fake Shocker” gang terrorising the city. Based on the manga by Yokusaru Shibata (Air Master, Hachiwandaiver), the series tells a passionate and humorous story of adults who love Kamen Rider so deeply that they risk everything for their dream.
