The story and preview images for Episode 1 of the TV anime This Monster Wants to Eat Me (JP: 私を喰べたい、ひとでなし) have been revealed. This episode will air on Thursday, October 2 at 11:30 PM (JST), and will later be available on various international streaming platforms.

Episode 1 Story

Hinako Yaotose, who had been living out empty days, only wished for summer to end quickly. One day, she encounters a girl with eyes as clear as the deep sea. Hinako finds herself reminded of the ocean when looking at this girl and cannot help but think about her even during class. On the way home that day, Hinako suddenly senses the smell of the sea and the girl’s presence, leading her to head toward the ocean still wearing her school shoes. From beneath the waves, something not quite human emerges before her…

Introduction

A mermaid girl named Shiori suddenly appears and gently takes the hand of Hinako, who lives alone in a seaside town. She whispers softly: Hinako’s flesh and blood are said to be especially delicious, so much so that countless yokai are drawn to her.

Shiori vows to protect Hinako until she matures and reaches her “most perfect state”… and then, she promises, she will eat her.

Yet within Hinako’s heart arises a desperate thought:

“Maybe this person can grant my wish.”
