Azuma
A mature-minded girl in Suzuki and Tani's class. Though she comes off as jaded, she's never experienced a proper romantic relationship.
Comment by Miyuri Shimabukuro (VA for Azuma)
I'm Miyuri Shimabukuro, and I'll be voicing Azuma. I can finally say it, at last!
It feels a little surreal, honestly. If Azuma and I were in the same class, I doubt we'd have ever crossed paths. So the fact that I get to be connected to her in this way is both mysterious and deeply moving. From here on, I want to treat Azuma with care and do my best to become someone who truly understands her.
Together with the amazing staff and with Taira, I hope we can express the world of You and I Are Polar Opposites with the tenderness and attention it deserves. Thank you.

■Taira
A boy in Suzuki and Tani's class with a cynical attitude. Lacking confidence, he often compares himself to others and ends up feeling insecure or down.
Comment by Wataru Katoh (VA for Taira)
I've been following this series since its one-shot debut, and getting to be part of a story I love so much—right up through its final chapter—is a real honor. I'm thrilled to be joining as Taira.
I think Taira is someone who constantly translates his feelings into words in his head. It's like he's building mental safeguards to avoid getting hurt, but at the same time, that sometimes makes him see things in a more negative light.
As I reflect on Taira and step into his role, I find myself wondering: Maybe through him, I'll learn to be a little more accepting of myself too. I've been heading to the recording studio with that quiet hope in my heart.
I truly hope this anime adaptation becomes something special for someone out there—just like the original manga. I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy this anime.
