Space Battleship Yamato 50th Anniversary Tribute: JNTHED Illustration and Diorama Exhibition Announced

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the TV broadcast of Space Battleship Yamato, a new tribute illustration by renowned mechanical designer JNTHED has been unveiled, alongside special diorama and exhibition events.
A journey through time, art, and legacy — Yamato returns in a grand tribute.

From 1974 to the Present

The series began its TV broadcast on October 6, 1974, with Space Battleship Yamato. The latest installment, Be Forever Yamato REBEL3199 Chapter 4: Azure Maiden, will premiere in theaters nationwide on October 10.

Special Exhibits in Tokyo and Hiroshima

Starting September 19, the tribute illustration and dioramas produced by Monthly Hobby Japan will be on display at the entrance of Shinjuku Piccadilly before the magazine’s release. Featured works include “The Decayed Battleship Yamato” by Takushi Yamada, recreating one of the most iconic scenes, and “Defend the Yamato!” by Katsunari Kakuta, inspired by Space Battleship Yamato 2205: A New Voyage.

In addition, at MOVIX Hiroshima Station, the ongoing exhibition of a 1/100 scale Yamato model will be joined by original artwork from Be Forever Yamato REBEL3199 Chapter 4: Azure Maiden.
