Starring Yosuke Sugino, Reiwa-Era Period Comedy 'Isobe Isobee Monogatari': Unique Poster and Main Trailer Released

The main trailer and poster for the WOWOW drama series "Isobe Isobee Monogatari: Life Is Hard in the Floating World" (starting July 12, airing and streaming every Friday at 11:00 PM, 10 episodes total, with the first episode available for free) have been released. This drama is based on Ryo Nakama's gag manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 2013 to 2017.

Set in an Edo-like period town, the original manga depicts the lazy and slapstick-filled daily life of Isobe Isobee, a samurai school student who claims to aspire to become a great samurai but makes no effort to achieve it. In the drama, Yosuke Sugino plays the overly laid-back protagonist Isobee, alongside a cast that includes Fuku Suzuki, Neru Nagahama, Makita Sports, Kanji Tsuda, Hiroki Miyake, and Rei Dan.

The newly released poster features a dynamic wave in an ukiyo-e style, with Sugino’s Isobee confidently smiling while holding an embarrassing book that appears in the drama. Surrounding him are other characters seemingly poking fun at the slow-paced Isobee, accompanied by the tagline "Dedicated to all hardworking Japanese people," signaling that this is no ordinary period drama.

The 60-second main trailer, also released, showcases Isobee, who dreams of becoming a great samurai but falls far short with his foolish and lazy antics, causing trouble for those around him. The trailer introduces a variety of quirky characters, offering a glimpse into the unique world that is similar yet distinct from Edo.
