Hojo hopes that City Hunter fans will enjoy discovering the roots of Ryo’s character through Kamiya’s appearance.

The story follows the Kisugi sisters—Hitomi, Rui, and Ai—who secretly operate as the phantom thieves “Cat's Eye” while running a café by the same name. The anime gained popularity for its stylish heists and the suspenseful romance between Hitomi and Detective Toshio Utsumi. It was first adapted into an anime in 1983.
