Now in its sixth year, the ANN Awards is one of India’s largest animation award ceremonies, held within the “Anime India / Animation & More Summit” (August 22–24). Starting in 2025, submissions from across Asia became eligible, raising the event’s profile as an international platform.

In Japan, last summer’s release, Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Ora’s Dinosaur Diary, which premiered in India this May, won the award for Best International Animated Feature Film. It was praised for its animation, direction, design, and storytelling, and recognized for inspiring dreams and adventures among children in India.

Additionally, the Crayon Shin-chan character itself received the award for Best Animated Licensed Character. Following its theatrical release in India in May 2025, the franchise achieved tremendous success as a Japanese animated feature, further expanding its recognition through TV broadcasts, films, and licensed collaborations. The award highlights the character’s overwhelming popularity and strong potential for future IP development.

Celebrating the double win, the latest film Crayon Shin-chan the Movie: Super Hot! The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers will finally premiere in India, the story’s setting, on September 26. The release will feature dubbed versions in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu across the country. Moreover, the beloved theme song “Ora wa Ninkimono” will debut in new versions across three Indian languages. Collaborative projects with Japanese and Indian companies are also underway, marking a major step in cultural exchange and expansion.
