About THE FIRST TAKE
THE FIRST TAKE is a YouTube channel built on a simple but bold idea — one song, one take. Launched on November 15, 2019, it invites some of Japan’s most celebrated artists into a stark white studio to record live performances of their signature songs. The twist, and what sets it apart from other live video platforms, is that every performance is captured in a single, unedited take.
With just one microphone and no safety net, artists are free to let the moment guide them — sometimes polished, sometimes imperfect, but always real. Over the years, the channel has featured musicians from across genres, offering viewers around the world an intimate seat to raw, unrepeatable performances.
