The main visual for the TV anime Wandance, set to air from October in the nationwide TV Asahi network’s “IMAnimation W” slot (Wednesdays at 11:45 p.m.), has been released. Alongside this, the main staff lineup has been announced, and an advance screening event featuring the cast has been confirmed.

The series follows Kaboku Kotani (voiced by Koki Uchiyama), a high school student with a stutter who struggles to express himself, as he becomes captivated by the world of dance through his classmate Hikari Wanda (voiced by Hina Yomiya), who pursues self-expression without worrying about others’ opinions. He takes on the challenge of “freestyle” dance, a form that needs no words. The story features a colorful cast including dance club captain On Miyao (voiced by Ayaka Suwa), the team’s absolute ace capable of mastering any genre; Iori Itsukushima (voiced by Toshiki Masuda), a “ghost member” who excels at house dance; Gaku Kabeya (voiced by Yuma Uchida), a formidable rival from another school who is devoted to breaking; Takumi Usen (voiced by Yu Hayashi); and Assei (voiced by Chikahiro Kobayashi).

The newly revealed main visual captures these main characters striking dynamic poses in their signature dance styles, brimming with the kinetic energy unique to a dance-themed animation.

The production has also shared the main staff credits, highlighting its meticulous approach not only to animation but also to CG, dance choreography, and music. Dance scenes are performed live by dedicated dance cast members for each character, recorded via motion capture, and then translated into CG. The series will feature over 30 in-story songs, many of them original compositions, promising an unprecedentedly authentic dance anime experience.

Additionally, on September 27, an advance screening event will be held at Shinjuku Piccadilly in Tokyo, with appearances by main voice cast members Uchiyama, Yōmiya, Suwa, and Masuda, as well as KAITA, the dance cast for protagonist Kaboku.
