A complete live-action remake of the beloved 2002 animated classic, the film has grossed over $1 billion worldwide as of July 2025, making it the first 2025 release to join the “billion-dollar club.” On “Stitch Day” (June 26), a sequel was officially announced, fueling even greater anticipation for the franchise’s future.

Set on the lush, culturally rich island of Kauai, Hawaii, the story follows Lilo, a young girl who has lost her parents, and her older sister Nani. Their lives are upended when they encounter Stitch, a rambunctious alien with no concept of family. His unpredictable antics throw the peaceful island into chaos, but this extraordinary meeting gradually changes the sisters, who were on the verge of losing hope. With numerous homages to iconic moments from the original film, this live-action version delivers more love and heartfelt emotion than fans around the world could have imagined.

The free preview begins with a comical scene in which Stitch’s creator, Jumba, and Galactic Federation agent Pleakley disguise themselves as humans to search for the escaped alien on Earth. Lilo visits an animal shelter with Nani and their neighbor Tutu, where they encounter a “blue dog” so unruly it breaks out of its cage—revealed to be the very alien Jumba and Pleakley are pursuing. Intrigued by this strange creature, Lilo decides to welcome Stitch into her life as “ohana” (family), despite objections from those around her. Viewers can witness the touching start of the story that brings together a girl who has lost her parents and an alien who has never known love.

In the original version, Stitch is voiced by his creator Chris Sanders, with Koichi Yamadera reprising the role in the Japanese dub. Yuno Nagao plays Lilo, MOMONA plays Nani, and Kaito Nakamura portrays David. The Japanese ending theme is a rendition of Elvis Presley’s classic “Burning Love” performed by Travis Japan, the group Nakamura belongs to—adding another layer of charm to the film’s musical appeal.

Bonus content available with the purchased digital edition includes “Watch with Stitch!”—where viewers can enjoy famous scenes with commentary from Stitch—“Compare with the Original,” which lets fans revisit the animated classic, and a delightful “Bloopers Collection.” Packed with warmth and playfulness, these features are a must-watch for fans.
