Haikyu!! Day Special: 10th Anniversary Program Premieres on YouTube with Behind-the-Scenes Look at Anime Production and Editing

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the TV anime Haikyu!!, the series’ costumed mascot "Hinagarasu" will launch a new channel on YouTube called Hinagarasu Channel for one day only on Haikyu!! Day, August 19. In Japanese, 8 (Ha) – 1 (i) – 9 (kyu) can be read as “Haikyu,” and such number-based wordplay is often used to establish commemorative dates. As part of this celebration, the special program 10th Anniversary Azaa-shita!! Festival (—titled after the casual Japanese way of saying “Thank you!”) will be streamed.

In addition to the massive success of the film Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle, Hinagarasu will visit Production I.G, Shueisha, Toho, Animate, and SPYAIR’s MOMIKEN to express gratitude and help promote the Haikyu!! 10th ANNIVERSARY - Connect Project. The program will also feature a luxury viewer giveaway, with entries open to those who input a special keyword announced during the broadcast.

Based on Haruichi Furudate’s popular manga, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2012 for eight and a half years and has over 70 million copies in circulation, Haikyu!! tells the passionate coming-of-age story of high school students devoted to volleyball. The TV anime series began in 2014, with four seasons aired by December 2020, captivating fans in Japan and around the world.

Released in February 2024, Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle depicts the fierce match and emotional drama between Karasuno High and long-time rival Nekoma High. The film grossed over 20 billion yen worldwide and won the Japan Academy Film Prize for Excellent Animation of the Year, cementing its status as one of the most exciting sports anime today.

At the March finale event of the anime’s 10th anniversary project, it was announced that the long-awaited sequel film Haikyu!! vs. The Little Giant is in production. This pivotal story arc features Karasuno vs. Kamomedai, with Hinata facing off against Hoshiumi—the “Little Giant” duel at the heart of the original manga. In addition, the special anime Haikyu!! Where the Monsters Live, showcasing the Spring High clash between Fukurodani Academy and Mujinazaka High, is also set for production and TV broadcast, further fueling the Haikyu!! fever.
