Netizens are poking fun at the overly easy question, commenting things like, “Even in silhouette, it’s impressively grotesque (lol),” “Inosuke with way too many dislocated joints,” and “Hyohhyo-hyo! Isn’t it my grand entrance?”
Demon Slayer is based on the immensely popular manga that ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from February 2016 to May 2020. Set in a Taisho-era world plagued by man-eating demons, it follows a young boy, Tanjiro Kamado, whose family is slaughtered by demons. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps in hopes of avenging them and turning his demonized sister Nezuko back into a human. The manga’s total worldwide circulation recently surpassed 220 million copies.

The TV anime Demon Slayer – Tanjiro Kamado, Unwavering Resolve Arc aired from April to September 2019 and quickly became a sensation. This was followed by the release of the film Demon Slayer: Mugen Train in October 2020, which turned into a social phenomenon, grossing around 51.7 billion yen worldwide.

The franchise has since expanded into video games and stage adaptations. The TV anime continued with the Entertainment District Arc in December 2021, the Swordsmith Village Arc in April 2023, and the Hashira Training Arc from May to June 2024. Now, the story moves to the big screen with the Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Arc, a three-part film series. The first installment, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle – Part 1: Akaza Returns, depicts the Demon Slayer Corps’ final showdown against their arch-enemies—Muzan Kibutsuji and the Upper Rank demons—set in the demons’ stronghold, the Infinity Castle. The film is currently showing in 452 theaters (393 standard and 59 IMAX).
