Gaina Renamed to BENTEN Film Following Change in Ownership

Regarding the reason for the name change, BENTEN Film explained, “All shares of Gaina have been transferred from Kinoshita Group to Creator’s X Inc. As a result of this transfer and the change in parent company, Gaina is now part of the Creator’s X Group and has relaunched under the new name ‘BENTEN Film Inc.’”

On the meaning behind the new name, the company stated, “The name ‘BENTEN Film’ pays homage to Benzaiten, the goddess of art and wisdom, worshipped at Kichijoji Benzaiten (also known as Inokashira Benzaiten). Since our founding, we have prayed at this shrine, located near Inokashira Pond—the source of the Kanda River in our birthplace of Kichijoji. The name ‘BENTEN’ symbolizes our origins and our journey alongside this place.”

They added, “The term ‘Film’ reflects our desire to embrace not only anime production, but also the timeless, innovative, and boundless potential of movies and visual storytelling.”

The company also introduced its new logo, explaining, “The wave-like lines in the logo are inspired by the flow of water—connected to the water goddess Sarasvati, from whom Benzaiten originates—and the gentle movement of a celestial robe. It expresses our wish that BENTEN Film’s works will ripple outward and resonate with people’s hearts. The vivid scarlet color used in the logo is one of Japan’s traditional colors, symbolizing passion and strength.”
