Tougen Anki TV Anime Premieres with Episode 4 Story & Preview Images- Shiki teams up with Jin to snatch the ball from Mudano!

The long-awaited TV anime adaptation of Tougen Anki has finally begun airing. Along with its premiere, the synopsis and preview images for Episode 4 have been released.

Based on the manga by Yura Urushibara, serialized in Weekly Shonen Champion (Akita Shoten), Tougen Anki has surpassed 4 million copies in circulation. Inspired by the Japanese folktale of Momotaro, this dark hero tale follows the fierce battle between descendants of demons (Oni) and those of Momotaro. Told from the Oni’s perspective, it reimagines a traditional narrative as a bold, new-generation dark fantasy.

Episode 4 Story

After successfully unleashing the Blood Eclipse Release, Shiki Ichinose defeats the blood giant with the gun he created. However, he becomes unable to move due to overusing his blood. Meanwhile, Jin Kougasaki, ignoring the fallen Shiki and Homare Byoubugaura, challenges Naito Mudano according to the special rule, “If you kill the Oni role, you graduate instantly.” Yet, he is defeated without landing a single blow on Mudano, who does not even rely on his Oni Blood powers. With little time remaining, finding the ball — the condition for victory — seems nearly impossible. Even so, Shiki refuses to give up and proposes teaming up with Kougasaki. Together, they manage to snatch the ball from Mudano. Although Kougasaki initially tries to claim the victory all for himself, he returns to Shiki because he doesn’t want to owe him a favor.

The bloodlines of Oni and Momotaro have been passed down through a select group of humans. Ages ago, the Oni, fully aware of their own violent tendencies, chose to live in seclusion. But the Momotaro attacked them, initiating an age-long conflict. Both sides established organizations—the Oni Corporation and the Momotaro Agency—and their war has raged for millennia.

One day, Shiki Ichinose learns the shocking truth about his bloodline following a surprise Momotaro attack. From that moment, he is bound by destiny, encountering the Oni dwelling within him. Thus begins a new generation of dark hero demon saga.
