The TV anime The Summer Hikaru Died (airs Sundays at 0:55 a.m. on Nippon TV) has claimed the No. 1 spot on both Netflix Japan’s daily rankings and the ABEMA anime rankings, it was announced on the 15th.

This coming-of-age horror story follows ordinary high schooler Yoshiki Tsujinaka as he experiences a series of eerie incidents while living alongside a mysterious being—Hikaru Indo—who imitates his childhood friend.

In ABEMA’s comment ranking for Episode 1, “Substitute,” the scene where Matsuura’s grandmother is attacked topped the chart. Episode 2, “Suspicion,” also sparked buzz online, with many frightened yet eager to see what happens next. The show continues to captivate viewers with its suspenseful storytelling.
