In Episode 12, titled "The True Hero," Frieren and her companions visit the Sword Village, where Himmel pulled out the Hero's Sword 80 years ago. They are there to fulfill the duty of exterminating the monsters that have been appearing around the village. As they do so, Frieren recalls events from 80 years ago. The episode highlights the hidden history of the Hero's Sword and Stark's past. What does the title "The True Hero" signify, and what happened to the young Stark? The story promises to be highly engaging.

The series is based on the manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" since April 2020, depicting the adventures of the elven mage Frieren in a post-Demon King world. Known for its heartfelt drama, magical battles, and humor, the manga won the "Manga Taisho 2021" Grand Prize and has surpassed 11 million copies in circulation. The anime will air continuously for two cours until March 2024.
