The series is based on the manga of the same name, serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" since April 2020. It is a "post-heroic fantasy" that follows the story of the hero's party after they have defeated the Demon King. The story features the elven mage Frieren embarking on new adventures with new companions in a world without the hero.

The unique setting of "post-Demon King defeat" delivers a poignant drama with impactful dialogues, battles involving magic and swords, and humor that brings smiles, captivating many readers.
