The newly revealed production brings together a high-profile staff. Yoichi Fujita, known for directing Gintama and Osomatsu-san, will helm the project. The main character, Gai, will be voiced by Hiiro Ishibashi, and animation production will be handled by Sunrise Studio.
The Legacy of Yoroiden Samurai Troopers
Originally broadcast from April 1988 to March 1989, Yoroiden Samurai Troopers follows five young warriors who wield mystical "Yoroi Gear" as they battle the demon emperor Arago and his dark army known as the Youja. The franchise later expanded into three OVAs and was adapted into a manga in Kodansha's Comic BomBom, becoming a cult classic.

A Brand-New Story Set in Modern Shinjuku
The upcoming sequel, Gaishinden Samurai Troopers, will unfold an entirely original story set in present-day Shinjuku. As the seal imprisoning the demonic Youja realm breaks, waves of Youja soldiers invade the human world. In humanity’s darkest hour, five young samurai—new “Samurai Troopers”—rise to face the threat.
The new series will see Gai, a 14-year-old boy recognized for his potential as a Samurai Trooper, don the "Armor of Blaze (JP: 武装! 灼熱!, Buso! Shakunetsu!)" and charge into battle. The teaser video features Gai shouting “Armor Up! Blaze!!” as he transforms, thrilling longtime fans of the franchise.
A Star-Studded Creative Team
Script and series composition are handled by Shogo Muto, known for his work on Kamen Rider Build, Crows Zero, and Thermae Romae. Yuhei Murota, who designed characters for Love Live!, Love Live! Sunshine!!, and Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, serves as the lead character designer.
Designs for the Yoroi Gear are based on original concepts by Hideo Okamoto, who also worked on SSSS.DYNAZENON. Takuya Suzuki will animate the Yoroi Gear, while villain designs are provided by Tsukasa Kotobuki. Music is composed by Shuji Katayama (Team-MAX).
The teaser also reveals a mysterious gate appearing, the city falling into chaos, and citizens screaming in fear. It ends with the ominous line, “Humans are such ugly creatures,” followed by a dramatic sword swing—hinting at the dark tone of the new series.
