Q: In Episode 35 "Summoning" (11th episode of Season 2), Jin reappeared, showcasing his overwhelming strength. How did you feel about playing Jin again after "Kaigyoku: Tamahoko"?

Koyasu: "I had read the original work, so I knew Jin would appear in the 'Shibuya Incident,' but I felt like, 'I've been waiting for this!'"

Q: Compared to "Kaigyoku: Tamahoko," were there any changes or particular focuses in your performance this time?

Koyasu: "For other characters, years have passed, but Jin appears just as he was during 'Kaigyoku: Tamahoko,' so I didn't try to change anything. However, since he transforms from his grandson's appearance into Jin, I was worried whether fans would recognize my voice. But when it aired, I saw fans on social media getting excited, saying, 'Jin is here!' That made me glad I have such a distinctive voice (laughs)."

Uchida: "I thought the same, 'He's here!' (laughs)."

Koyasu: "I'm grateful even to my son for saying that. It's been good being a voice actor for 36 years!"

Q: The fierce battle between Megumi and Jin was depicted in Episode 40 "Thunderclap" (16th episode of Season 2). What are your impressions of the story?

Koyasu: "Just like the battle with Gojo, Megumi doesn't actually recognize Jin as his father, thinking, 'Who is this guy?' (laughs)."

Uchida: "Right, it's like, 'A crazy, ridiculously strong guy just showed up' (laughs)."

Koyasu: "The animation was amazing too. It added even more flavor to the original work."

Uchida: "The way it expanded the portrayal was incredible!"

Q: Did you two discuss your acting at all?

Koyasu: "We didn't talk about acting, but when we were together on a different set, I told Yuma, 'Looking forward to working with you! I'm excited!' Though Megumi and Jin don't have many scenes talking to each other. But I really was looking forward to it. Due to the pandemic, we've had a lot of separate recordings, but even just a few lines of conversation, performing in the same space at the same time makes a difference. I felt so happy to be able to deliver lines side by side."

Uchida: "Interacting with someone else deepens the sense of being part of the work. I'm always thinking about the character's feelings, breathing as the character, but sharing the tension while recording together sharpens the senses even more. There's definitely something that can't be born unless we're together. I'm really glad to have recorded with Koyasu-san this time. Although Megumi doesn't recognize Jin as his father, as Yuma Uchida, I felt a sort of 'parent-child' consciousness, which gave me a sense of reassurance on set."

Koyasu: "Ever since then, I've come to think of Yuma as a real son (laughs). He's about the same age as my actual son, so I naturally fell into a fatherly feeling, leading to that final line. I'm happy we could share that feeling."

Q: Looking back at your character's appearances so far, can you tell us what you find appealing about the character you play?

Koyasu: "I fell in love with Jin at first sight when I read the original work. It's really cool how he's flawed as a human but strong. He looks cool, and there's a part of his way of living that I admire. Living freely, doing what you love without any constraints must be so fun. Since it's impossible to live like that in reality, I'm happy to be able to play him as a voice actor. There's no greater joy."

Uchida: "Compared to Jin, Megumi is full of constraints. He seems cool on the surface, doesn't speak much, but he's always observing and thinking about others. After all that thinking, he's even willing to sacrifice himself. The challenge is how to incorporate that 'invisible part' into my acting, but I believe that's where his charm lies."

Q: As we head into the latter half of the "Shibuya Incident" broadcast, could you give a message to the viewers?

Koyasu: "The story gets even more intense from here. As a viewer, I want to watch over my son from the shadows of the grass, seeing how hard he's working (laughs)."

Uchida: "The 'Shibuya Incident' is filled with tough scenes, but the battles get even harder from here. Every character is fighting desperately to live, so please brace yourselves and watch it through to the end."
