Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Returns to Theaters in Japan on October 17: Love and Curses of Yuta & Rika Revisited with New Visual and Trailer
The anime film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 (originally released in 2021) is making a comeback in Japanese theaters starting October 17. A new trailer and key visual featuring the central theme of “love and curse” between the protagonists Yuta Okkotsu and Rika Orimoto have been unveiled to mark the occasion.

This announcement was made during the stage greeting held on May 30 for the theatrical compilation film Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death. The revelation that the origin story of the Jujutsu Kaisen franchise will return to theaters was met with an outpouring of excitement from fans in attendance.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a prequel to the main story of Jujutsu Kaisen, adapted from the original short series Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School penned by creator Gege Akutami prior to the full serialization. It centers around Yuta Okkotsu, a high school boy haunted by the spirit of his childhood friend Rika Orimoto, who became a powerful curse after dying in an accident. The emotional and action-packed tale of love and curses captivated audiences worldwide.
The film grossed over 26.5 billion yen globally, attracting more than 20.51 million viewers, and was a major international hit. Domestically in Japan, it earned over 13.8 billion yen and won the “Excellent Animation of the Year” at the 45th Japan Academy Film Prize.
