Oshi no Ko Launches Nationwide Project Featuring 47 Japanese Prefecture-Themed Characters Ahead of Season 3

Ahead of the much-anticipated third season of the TV anime Oshi no Ko, set to premiere in 2026, a nationwide initiative titled Japan Nationwide Project: Children of All 47 Prefectures has been announced. The project, revealed on May 10, introduces new characters inspired by Japan's 47 prefectures and aims to promote the anime throughout the country. To commemorate the launch, a special webpage and promotional video have gone live, along with the release of key visuals for the Kinki and Kyushu regions.

The project includes Oshi no Ko participating in major local events and festivals. Confirmed appearances include:
Chayamachi Oshi Festival in Osaka Prefecture
Aomori Nebuta Festival in Aomori Prefecture
Sendai Tanabata Festival in Sendai City
In addition, a summer festival-themed event related to the anime has been scheduled for September 2025.

New Illustrations and Regional Collaborations

As part of the campaign, 47 unique character illustrations—each representing a different prefecture—will be released. These visuals will be used for exclusive merchandise and regional collaboration products, including tie-ins with local confectionery. Furthermore, 47 original voice videos, one for each prefecture, will be uploaded to the official YouTube channel.

About Oshi no Ko

Oshi no Ko explores the highs and lows of the entertainment industry through the story of Gorou, an obstetrician who dies under tragic circumstances and is reincarnated as Aqua—the son of his favorite idol, Ai Hoshino. Determined to uncover the truth behind Ai and Gorou's deaths, Aqua enters the entertainment world.

Based on the manga serialized in Weekly Young Jump from April 2020 to November 2024, the series has surpassed 20 million copies in circulation. It won the Grand Prize in the 2021 Next Manga Awards (Comic Category). The first anime season aired from April to June 2023, with the opening theme “Idol” by YOASOBI gaining widespread attention. The second season aired from July to October 2024, followed by live-action drama and film adaptations.
