Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback Surpasses ¥10.4 Billion ($72.7M) in 19 Days—Third Consecutive Film to Cross ¥10 Billion Milestone
The 28th installment in the Detective Conan anime film series, Detective Conan: One-eyed Flashback, released on April 18, has surpassed ¥10.4 billion (approximately $72.7 million) in box office revenue within 19 days, attracting over 7.26 million viewers. This marks the third consecutive film in the franchise to exceed the ¥10 billion milestone, following Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine (2023) and Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram (2024). To commemorate this achievement, original creator Gosho Aoyama released a celebratory illustration.

On its opening day, One-eyed Flashback drew 690,000 attendees and earned ¥1.05 billion ($7.3 million), outperforming its predecessor, The Million-dollar Star, which had 630,000 attendees and ¥960 million ($6.7 million) on its first day—representing a 109% increase.
The franchise has been consistently breaking its own records in recent years. Black Iron Submarine grossed ¥13.88 billion ($97.0 million) in 2023, while The Million-dollar Pentagram reached ¥15.8 billion ($110.5 million) in 2024. Notably, Black Iron Submarine crossed the ¥10 billion mark in 24 days, and The Million-dollar Star achieved it in just 22 days.
Set in the snowy mountains of Nagano Prefecture, One-eyed Flashback follows Inspector Kansuke Yamato of the Nagano Prefectural Police and private detective Kogoro Mouri. While pursuing a suspect in the mountains, Yamato is grazed by a bullet near his left eye and becomes caught in an avalanche. Ten months later, having miraculously survived, he responds to a report of an attack on a researcher at the Nobeyama Radio Observatory. As the observatory's parabolic antenna begins to move, Yamato's now one-eyed vision starts to throb ominously.
Meanwhile, Mouri and Conan Edogawa, en route to meet a former colleague from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police investigating the avalanche incident, hear gunshots. The film delves into the "forgotten memories" that connect the seemingly unrelated paths of Yamato and Mouri.
