Having mastered the technique for collecting tears of joy, Meg Raspberry gathers 50 tears with ease, smiling to herself in satisfaction. However, Faust, observing that Meg is so focused on collecting tears that she has lost sight of what truly matters, forbids her from using magic.

About Once Upon a Witch's Death
This series, which won the Grand Prize in the "Passionate Master-Disciple Relationship" category of the Dengeki New Literature 2nd Anniversary Contest, follows the journey of the protagonist, Meg, who, after receiving a terminal diagnosis, seeks to break her curse by collecting "tears of joy" from people, using her magic to solve their problems. A manga adaptation is also currently serialized in Dengeki Comic Regulus.
The story begins with Meg, a 17-year-old apprentice witch, receiving a prognosis from her mentor, the eternal witch Faust, that she has only one year to live due to a curse. To lift the curse, Meg must collect a thousand "tears of joy" to create a "seed of life." This quest leads her to expand her world and interact with various people, learning valuable lessons about life, friendship, and love along the way.
