Amate Yuzuriha (MACHU) in Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Complete Profile Guide
Developments After Episode 7

Amate Yuzuriha (MACHU) (C) Sotsu・Sunrise
Amate appears to have awakened as a Newtype at the beginning of the series. She is drawn to the brilliance of Shuji’s spray art and occasionally makes ethereal comments that suggest she possesses the heightened intuition and emotional sensitivity typical of Newtypes.
One of the most remarkable moments is when she pilots the GQuuuuuuX and activates its Omega Psycommu system—something even top NT pilots couldn’t manage. Upon doing so, she exclaims, “I don’t really get it… but somehow I just know!” and instinctively uses its hidden features. Her aptitude suggests she may have greater potential than even legendary Newtype Amuro Ray. In fact, despite having no prior combat experience, she achieves four mobile suit kills within just 24 hours of her first sortie—a feat nearly unheard of in the Gundam universe.
Physically, Amate is extremely agile and athletic. She is shown nimbly running atop mobile suits with feline grace—a trait that seems directly tied to her ability to control the Psycommu-linked GQuuuuuuX.

Amate Yuzuriha (MACHU) (C) Sotsu・Sunrise
Although Machu was previously detained in Sodon, the final scene of Episode 8 depicts her piloting the Zieg-Ax and entering the atmosphere, implying an unexpected escape. In Episode 9, she crash-lands in India and is rescued by Lalah Sune. While she appears to have sustained injuries, she remains in good spirits. Her polite tone and earnest desire to properly thank Lalah for her help underscore her upbringing as a well-mannered young lady from a refined background.
During her time in India, she also discovers the GQuuuuuuX submerged in the ocean, alongside Sharon’s Rose resting nearby.
Following this, she is recovered by Sodon authorities and sent back into space. Though not officially recognized as a soldier, Machu begins undergoing joint training with the GQuuuuuuX and the Kikeroga. Nevertheless, her public status remains that of a suspected terrorist.
In Episode 10, Kycilia Zabi—acting beyond Challia’s expectations—executes a hardline plan by poisoning Sovereign Gihren Zabi. As a result, the Iomagnusso is activated via GFreD. Machu infiltrates the interior of the Iomagnusso. In Episode 11, she encounters GFreD but is unaware that the pilot of the opposing machine is actually Nyaan, leading the two to fight unknowingly.
By Episode 12, Machu and Nyaan reconcile and form a “MAV” unit. Together, they face Shuji, who is piloting the RX-78-2. Empowered by the true potential of the GQuuuuuuX, Machu overwhelms him in combat. Amidst the shimmering lights of the Psycommu field, she speaks with Shuji and reaches a moment of emotional unity.
Shortly thereafter, Lalah awakens from within Sharon’s Rose, causing the RX-78-2—along with Shuji and the Rose itself—to vanish from the battlefield.
In the story’s final scene, Machu and Nyaan are shown back on Earth, standing on a beach. Looking out at the ocean, Machu says softly to Nyaan:
"Someday, I’ll see him again. Gundam says."
