The first promotional video (PV) for The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 4, set to premiere this July, has been officially released. The PV features a unique presentation combining the latest anime footage with behind-the-scenes elements such as storyboards and key animation cuts.

Additionally, two new characters make their debut in the video. Valnarl, voiced by Takeo Otsuka, and Jalalis, voiced by Jiro Saito, add new intrigue to the story. The opening theme will be performed by MADKID, while Chiai Fujikawa returns to perform the ending theme.

Based on the hit web novel that has surpassed 300 million views on the site Shōsetsuka ni Narō, the story follows Naofumi Iwatani, an ordinary otaku college student who is suddenly transported to a parallel world. There, he is chosen as the Shield Hero—one of the Four Cardinal Heroes tasked with repelling catastrophic waves of calamity. However, after being betrayed by his comrades, Naofumi loses everything—his money, his position, and his trust in others—and must rise again from rock bottom.

Following the success of the 2019 TV anime debut, the series continued with Season 2 in 2022 and Season 3 in 2023. With Season 4 already confirmed, anticipation continues to build among fans worldwide.

Synopsis

As the revival of the Four Guardian Beasts nears, the Shield Hero Naofumi Iwatani prepares to confront the Phoenix. In hopes of uniting the divided Four Heroes, he faces the other three and eventually reconciles with them. However, due to a misunderstanding, Raphtalia is perceived as having intentions to ascend the throne—putting her in the crosshairs of assassins from the country of Kutenrou.

To negotiate with Kutenrou, Naofumi visits Siltvelt, a demi-human nation that worships the Shield Hero. Although welcomed enthusiastically by many, not all factions within Siltvelt support him. Meanwhile, political unrest brews in Kutenrou, and Raphtalia becomes a symbol of rebellion. Amid growing chaos, can Naofumi become the guiding light for his companions?
