Witwer originally voiced Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and later continued the role in Star Wars Rebels. This new anime series takes place after the final season of The Clone Wars, in the period following the Clone Wars themselves.
In Shadow Lord, Maul attempts to rebuild his criminal empire from a planet untouched by the reach of the Galactic Empire. Plot details suggest viewers will see the Sith warrior once again rise to power within the galaxy's underworld, leading a new wave of dark forces.
The series is currently in production and is set to premiere in 2026 exclusively on Disney+.
