Star Wars: Andor Season 2 Trailer and Japanese Poster Unveils Birth of the Rebellion and the Rise of Galactic Hope
The long-awaited Season 2 of Star Wars: Andor, the original drama series that directly connects to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ in Japan and the U.S. on April 23. The season will consist of 12 episodes, with three episodes released weekly.
Set just before Star Wars: A New Hope (1977), the story follows Cassian Andor, a Rebel intelligence officer who later joins the “Rogue One” team on a suicide mission to destroy the Death Star. Season 2 continues to explore the final four years leading up to this pivotal moment, chronicling the rise of the Rebellion and the sparks of hope across the galaxy.

New Trailer Hints at Galactic Uprising
In the newly released full trailer, we see Cassian, still an unnamed citizen, cross paths once more with mysterious operative Luthen Rael, who pushes him to embrace the fight. “We can’t let the Empire win,” Cassian declares, determined to fulfill his role in the coming revolution.
Alongside him are returning characters such as:
Mon Mothma, a key political figure turned Rebel leader
Bix Caleen, a longtime ally of Cassian
Saw Gerrera, the extremist freedom fighter seen in Rogue One, who proclaims, “Sanity has no place in revolution.”
As the Empire accelerates the construction of the Death Star, commanded by Orson Krennic, the galaxy inches closer to all-out war. The trailer shows a nearly completed Death Star looming ominously, a symbol of the Empire’s overwhelming might.
Diego Luna Returns, Star Wars Celebration Japan Builds Hype
Actor Diego Luna reprises his role as Cassian Andor and is scheduled to appear at the Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025, set for April 18–20 at Makuhari Messe. This will be the first time in 17 years the global fan event is held in Japan, heightening anticipation for the new season.
With rebellion stirring in all corners of the galaxy, the trailer closes on a powerful line: “Welcome to the Rebellion.” Season 2 of Andor promises to be a gripping narrative of sacrifice, resistance, and the fight for hope, culminating where Rogue One begins—and ultimately leading to A New Hope.
