A large-scale display contest inspired by the popular manga WIND BREAKER is currently underway, encouraging fans and bookstores to creatively decorate their shelves with merchandise and manga volumes. Dubbed the “#WindBreakerContest,” this initiative has seen remarkable engagement across social media platforms.

To participate, all one needs to do is decorate a shelf—whether at home or in-store—with WIND BREAKER goods and post a photo of it on X (formerly Twitter) using the hashtag #ウィンブレコンテスト (#WindBreakerContest).

According to the editorial team behind the manga, “As of April 8, more than 90 bookstores have participated, and over 110 individual entries have been posted!” The scale and enthusiasm have exceeded expectations, leaving even the team pleasantly surprised.

WIND BREAKER is a hit delinquent manga currently serialized in Kodansha’s manga app Magazine Pocket. Set at Furin High School—known for its bottom-tier academic performance but top-tier fighting prowess—the story follows Haruka Sakura, a transfer student who arrives in town with aspirations to reach the top. He ends up joining the vigilante group “Bofurin,” a squad that protects the town with their fists and unshakable sense of justice.

The anime adaptation's first season aired from April to June 2024, and its highly anticipated second season began airing in April 2025.

With creativity lighting up shelves across Japan and the second season now on air, the WIND BREAKER wave continues to surge—both in the streets and on the shelves.
