The announcement was made today during a stage greeting, where Kazuki Ura, the voice actor for Yoichi, excitedly declared, "The protagonist, Yoichi Isagi, is coming back! I'm home!!" "Blue Lock" is based on a manga of the same name currently serialized in Weekly Shonen Magazine. The story revolves around Japan's initiative to create a soccer player with overwhelming egoism, which the country sees as missing from its national team following their defeat in the FIFA World Cup. This project targets high school students, gathering 300 of them, all forwards, sacrificing the soccer careers of 299 to potentially revolutionize Japanese soccer by creating one exceptional striker. The manga has surpassed a total of 30 million copies in circulation.
