On March 21, it was announced that WWE star and renowned Japanese professional wrestler Shinsuke Nakamura will be making his voice acting debut in the anime Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc Season 2 (CBC/TBS network). Nakamura will lend his voice to the character Commandass, a powerful warrior with deep ties to Warsman. Reflecting on his new role, he expressed, “This is my first time voice acting, but since I’m always fighting and shouting in the ring, I think I was able to deliver a realistic performance.”

Commandass plays a significant role in the story’s climactic battle at the Tottori Sand Dunes, where the series delves into Warsman’s past. As a comrade-in-arms, Commandass shared rigorous training alongside Warsman, forging a bond through their shared struggles. Fans are eager to see how Nakamura’s experience in professional wrestling translates into his portrayal of this legendary superhuman fighter.

About Kinnikuman

Created by the duo Yudetamago (writer Takashi Shimada and illustrator Yoshinori Nakai), Kinnikuman began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in 1979. The series continues to this day in Weekly Playboy and Weekly PlayNews (both by Shueisha), boasting a total circulation of over 77 million copies.

The story follows Kinnikuman, a clumsy and goofy superhuman from Planet Kinniku, who overcomes adversity through perseverance, friendship, and victory, eventually becoming the strongest fighter in the superhuman wrestling world. The anime adaptation first aired in 1983 and became a massive hit, spawning the iconic Kinkeshi (Kinnikuman eraser figures), which sold over 180 million units.

New Anime Production Details

The upcoming series adapts the Perfect Origin Arc, one of the most highly acclaimed storylines in the manga. Production I.G is helming the animation, with Yo Satou directing, Makoto Fukami overseeing series composition, Hirotaka Marufuji handling character design, and Yasuharu Takanashi composing the music. The cast includes Mamoru Miyano as Kinnikuman and Akira Kamiya reprising his roles as Kinnikuman Mayumi and Prince Kamehame.
