The latest installment in the Kindaichi Case Files series, ‘Kindaichi Papa no Jikenbo,’ has officially launched, with its first chapter now available on the ‘Comic DAYS’ app (Kodansha).

This new story follows Hajime Kindaichi, now married to his childhood friend Miyuki and a father of one, as he runs his own detective agency while juggling parenting responsibilities. However, the story begins with a shocking twist—a divorce paper!

Fans React to the Unexpected Opening

In Chapter 1, Kindaichi’s son, Tsukumo, makes his debut. But the very first scene features Kindaichi and Miyuki discussing their divorce papers, catching fans completely off guard:

The Evolution of the ‘Kindaichi Case Files’ Series

The Kindaichi Case Files series first debuted in 1992 in Weekly Shonen Magazine, following Hajime Kindaichi, the grandson of famed detective Kosuke Kindaichi. Alongside Miyuki Nanase and Inspector Kenmochi, he solved countless highly complex murder cases.

The franchise expanded into:

In 2018, the series introduced a sequel, ‘Kindaichi 37-sai no Jikenbo’, depicting a 37-year-old Kindaichi working in a struggling PR firm while still solving cases.
