The latest work, "My Oni Girl," is a youth fantasy that begins with the encounter between Hiiragi, who cannot refuse requests due to his fear of being disliked, and the selfish oni girl, Tsumugi, who believes in the importance of expressing one’s feelings. The film is directed by Tomotaka Shibayama, who made his feature directorial debut with "A Whisker Away."

The roles of Hiiragi and Tsumugi are played by Kensho Ono and Miyu Tomita, respectively, with support from Shintaro Asanuma, Ki Manabe, Tomoko Shiota, Shiro Saito, Mio Tanaka, Satsuki Yukino, Shozo Sasaki, Noriko Hidaka, Satoru Mikami, and Naoko Kyoda.

The theme and insert songs are by the amorphous music band Zutomayo, with lyrics, composition, and vocals by ACA-ne. The theme song "It's Not a Lie" and the insert song "Blues in the Closet" mark Zutomayo's first new tracks in about a year. Released with the official trailer, the theme song "It's Not a Lie" is a special track that resonates with Hiiragi and Tsumugi’s true feelings, embodying the message unique to this work and aligning closely with the audience’s emotions.

Comments from Zutomayo’s ACA-ne

I was thrilled to be involved again since I had worked on Studio Colorido's previous project. Speaking with Director Shibayama before starting, the phrase 'not because someone told me so' stood out, and surprisingly, the image came to me quickly, almost syncing with a song fragment I had created even before the discussion. It felt like the song was running parallel with thoughts of my own misunderstood minority status and others’ differing emotions. Director Shibayama's kind personality seems to blend into this as well? The chorus has intentional "blanks" in the lyrics, which you will understand when you see the movie.

Comments from Director Tomotaka Shibayama

Our meetings with Zutomayo were fruitful and fun, and I could feel the song’s image forming in ACA-ne's mind as we spoke, filling me with anticipation. The delivered songs not only complement the main story but also connect deeply and broadly with everyone who needs this work. With just one month until the film's release, I am honored to present it with beautiful theme and insert songs and eagerly await the day it can be shared with you all.
