Amazon Prime Video has officially announced the production of Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. The upcoming season is currently in the pre-production phase, with filming set to begin this spring at its new production base, Shepperton Studios in the UK.

The series has been a massive success, with Season 1 becoming the biggest hit in Prime Video history and Season 2 ranking as the most-watched sequel. So far, the show has captivated 170 million viewers worldwide.

Charlotte Brändström (The Continental: From the World of John Wick, Shōgun), who served as co-executive producer and directed multiple episodes in Seasons 1 and 2, will return as executive producer and director for Season 3. Sanaa Hamri (The Wheel of Time Season 2), who directed several episodes in Season 2, will continue her role, while Stephen Schwartz (The Boys, The Walking Dead) will join as a director for the first time, with each directing multiple episodes.

Showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will continue to lead Season 3. Additional executive producers include Lindsey Weber (Star Trek Beyond), Justin Doble, and Kate Hazell. Charlotte Brändström will serve as both executive producer and director, with Matthew Penry-Davey as producer. Associate producers include Ally O’Leary, Andrew Lee, and Tim Keene.
