Based on the works of J.R.R. Tolkien and immortalized in film history by director and co-writer Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy, this epic fantasy masterpiece left a lasting mark in cinema. Now, 20 years after The Return of the King was released in Japan in 2004, the new animated film depicts the legendary battle that took place 200 years before the events of The Lord of the Rings.

The tapestry reveals the young Princess Hera charging on horseback with a spear in hand against the backdrop of a giant monster. She is portrayed as a brave and skilled princess in both horsemanship and swordsmanship, destined to fight for the people of Rohan and the fate of her nation. This compelling scene captures her determination and the epic battle she faces.

Next to her, familiar sights such as the tower of Isengard and soldiers fighting against the massive oliphaunts, the Mumakil, engulfed in flames over the landscape of Rohan, create a series of powerful, breathtaking scenes. A majestic silhouette rises bravely through a snowstorm, and the mighty eagle, seen in the trailer, spreads its wings in a stunning visual.

There is also a scene where Hera confronts her childhood friend, Wolf, who has become a threat to the kingdom. The opposing beliefs of these characters are sharply defined in this intense face-off. Iconic moments are woven throughout the film, such as the golden-armored knights of Rohan raising their swords at Hornburg.

In the accompanying special video, viewers are treated to an inside look at the detailed hand-drawn animation process, set to a sweeping musical score. The footage highlights the dedication and passion of the skilled production team as they meticulously craft each character stroke by stroke. This showcase of artistry and attention to detail further heightens anticipation for the film’s completion.

Additionally, it has been confirmed that the film will be screened in large-format theaters, including Dolby Cinema, 4D, and IMAX, alongside the standard version.
