"GIVE IT ALL" to Be Screened at French Animation Film Festival Alongside "Detective Conan" and "SAND LAND" in Newly Established Category Article

The anime film adaptation of the youth novel "GIVE IT ALL," set in the naturally rich city of Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture and depicting the growth and emotional fluctuations of high school girls in the boat club, has been announced to be screened at the world’s largest animation film festival, "Annecy International Animation Film Festival 2024". This depiction of beautiful Japanese landscapes will now cross the seas and be showcased to an international audience in France.

The original work by Ryoko Shikimura, which won the grand prize of the Botchan Literature Award in 1995, was adapted into a live-action film in 1998 starring Rena Tanaka (produced by Altamira Pictures) and achieved a long-running hit. It was also adapted into a drama in 2005 starring Anne Suzuki and Ryo Nishikido (produced by Kansai TV).

In this animated film version, the protagonist Etsuko Murakami is voiced by Sora Amamiya, with the members of the boat club, dedicated to their youth, played by Miku Ito, Rie Takahashi, Akari Kito, and Ikumi Hasegawa. The director is Yuhei Sakuragi, who served as the CG director for "Boro the Caterpillar," a short film by Hayao Miyazaki at the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, and whose work "Even if the World Ends Tomorrow" (2019) was selected for the feature film competition at the "Annecy International Animation Film Festival". The script is written by Keiichiro Ochi of "The Quintessential Quintuplets," and character design is by Asako Nishida of "Love Live!"

The "Annecy International Animation Film Festival" will be held from June 9th to 15th in Annecy, a city in southeastern France. This film will be shown in the newly established "Annecy Presents" category (a non-competitive section) this year to showcase the diversity and richness of world animation. Also representing Japan in this category are the ambitious animations "Detective Conan: The $1 Million Guiding Star" and "SAND LAND".
