With the final episode of Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger airing today, Haruhi Iuchi, who played Taiya Hando / Boon Red, officially passed the baton to Mio Fuyuno, set to star as Hoeru Tono / Gozyu Wolf​Gozyugerin the upcoming No.1 Sentai Gozyuger, premiering on February 16.

Gozyuger: The Next Generation of Super Sentai

Living up to its name, No.1 Sentai Gozyuger aims to be the ultimate Super Sentai series, featuring heroes inspired by animals and dinosaurs (JP: Kemono, Jyu, 獣)—beloved motifs among children. The series is poised to deliver an unprecedented level of excitement, honoring the franchise’s 50-year legacy while paving the way for the next era of Super Sentai.

Haruhi Iuchi Reflects on His Year as a Sentai Hero

Reflecting on his year as Boon Red, Iuchi shared,“It was a year filled with learning, and it flew by in the blink of an eye.”

Fuyuno, the incoming hero, asked, “Has anything changed for you from when you first started filming?”

Iuchi smiled and responded, “The biggest change is that I learned to express my own opinions.”

Initially, Iuchi was unsure about how much input he could offer on set.

“I had my own acting ideas, but the director had a vision, the cinematographer had to frame shots, and the scriptwriter had a specific story in mind. I wasn’t sure where my input fit in.”

However, encouragement from the crew helped him find his voice.

“They’d ask me, ‘What do you think?’ or tell me, ‘It’s okay to speak up.’ That gave me confidence, and I know this experience will help me in the future.”
He concluded with a message for Fuyuno,

“Never forget to appreciate the people working on the show with you and give it your all!”

Fuyuno’s Determination for His Role in Gozyuger

Taking Iuchi’s advice to heart, Fuyuno admitted, “Right now, I tend to follow the director and staff’s instructions passively. But I want to change that and take a more active role. I hope that in a year, I can grow enough for Iuchi to say, ‘I’m glad I passed the baton to you.’”
