The legendary Kamen Rider Kuuga, which first aired on January 30, 2000, at 8 AM, continues to captivate fans even after 25 years. As the first installment of the Heisei Kamen Rider series, it laid the foundation for a new era of Kamen Rider. Now, to celebrate its 25th anniversary, the Super Kuuga Exhibition has been officially announced. Kicking off in Tokyo in June 2025, the exhibition will travel across Japan, visiting Fukuoka, Nagoya, and Osaka, before expanding to Asia in 2026.

Kuuga Returns After 25 Years—A Global Celebration Begins

Back in 2000, Kamen Rider Kuuga shook Japan, and now, 25 years later, it is set to thrill the world once again. The teaser visual captures this moment perfectly, declaring, “Kuuga returns after 25 years…” This exhibition-exclusive key visual was newly photographed, with Kenji Tominaga (Japan Action Enterprise) reprising his role as Kuuga's suit actor, just as he did in the original series.

The Meaning Behind “2025: Starting the Era from Zero”

The event’s tagline, “2025: Starting the Era from Zero”, is an homage to the show’s iconic opening theme, with the year 2025 woven into the lyrics. It symbolizes the idea of re-examining Kuuga from a fresh perspective and contemplating what lies beyond.

The special teaser video combines original 2000 footage with newly filmed sequences. Fumihiko Tachiki, the narrator of the original TV series previews, returns to voice the trailer, adding a nostalgic yet powerful touch.

Moreover, Shigenori Takatera, the original producer of Kamen Rider Kuuga, serves as the supervisor of this exhibition. In addition to overseeing the teaser visual and video, he is also deeply involved in the exhibition's production.

Shigenori Takatera’s Comment

"An empty star… Starting the era from zero." These words marked the beginning of Kamen Rider Kuuga when it first aired on January 30, 2000.

However, looking back, this lyric wasn’t necessarily about celebrating a new Kamen Rider with fresh abilities. Rather, it reflected a determination to break away from outdated conventions in children’s television. The goal was to reshape the way stories were told and create something truly revolutionary.

Now, as we celebrate Kuuga’s 25th anniversary, I find myself wondering: Was that truly the right message?

As the Kamen Rider series continues to evolve, what does it mean to look back at Kuuga after a quarter-century? Can a series built on moving forward without being bound by the past still celebrate its history?

I found myself contemplating this contradiction.

But this time, the exhibition offers something truly special—a behind-the-scenes look at Kuuga’s production like never before.

For the first time, we will showcase never-before-seen design sketches, extensive production materials saved by the staff, and even original props unearthed from the depths of Toei’s archives.

Through these historical treasures, I hope visitors will not only relive the nostalgia but also discover something new within the legacy of Kuuga.

Thus, the festival of starting from zero begins anew. I hope as many fans as possible will join us in creating a new legend together.

2025 is the year of Kuuga—let’s reunite!
