TV Asahi announced on the 14th that it will air a special one-hour episode of Doraemon on New Year’s Eve, titled It's New Year's Eve! Doraemon One-Hour Special, on December 31 at 9:00 AM. The theme of the special is “Spain,” featuring professional soccer player Takefusa Kubo (currently playing for Real Sociedad in Spain) making an appearance.
Why Spain as the Theme?
Doraemon began airing in Spain in 1994, making 2024 the 30th anniversary of its broadcast in the country. To commemorate this milestone, an original story set in Spain has been created for this special, wrapping up the anniversary year with a unique celebration.
The special, titled Ringing in the New Year in Spain, takes place in Madrid, Spain’s capital. The story begins with Nobita missing the countdown to New Year’s because he fell asleep. Doraemon tells him there are countries where the New Year has yet to arrive, and the duo decides to celebrate in Spain. However, unexpected events await them as they arrive in Madrid!
Takefusa Kubo’s Cameo
In honor of the 30th anniversary of Doraemon in Spain, Takefusa Kubo, a player for the Spanish professional soccer team Real Sociedad, appears in the episode. Although he has no lines, Kubo, dressed in Real Sociedad’s iconic blue-and-white striped uniform, showcases his skills on the streets of Madrid. Fans are eager to see what kind of scene he will be featured in!
