The support screening for "Godzilla-1.0," which won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, was held on the 19th at TOHO Cinemas Shinjuku in Tokyo and TOHO Cinemas Umeda in Osaka. The event, titled "Godzilla-1.0 Operation Sea God (Wadatsumi) Support Screening," featured Mio Tanaka, who played the former captain of "Yukikaze" and the commander of Operation Sea God. He conducted the event as a special guest. In a delightful surprise, director Takashi Yamazaki also made an appearance.

Before the screening, Tanaka, during the stage greeting, expressed his relief by saying, "I thought it would be impossible with just me as a guest, but it turned out to be full. Thank you very much." He wore a headband inspired by Godzilla's dorsal fin and said, "I also made some support goods. I came up with them while on the train heading towards Maihama," which was a big hit with the audience.

Moreover, when director Yamazaki was introduced unexpectedly, Tanaka was surprised and said, "I came to support the support screening." Yamazaki, who had volunteered to attend, remarked, "It's my first time having a support screening for my film. I was looking forward to it."

As the screening began, voices calling out names like "Shikishima!" "Tachibana-san!" "Noriko!" "Akiko is cute!" filled the air, along with various heckles and laughter. During scenes where Godzilla angrily glows blue from his dorsal fins, the audience's blue penlights flickered in response, and clapping erupted in sync with Godzilla's theme music. When the Operation Sea God scene was executed, Tanaka stood up and loudly commanded, "Begin Operation Sea God!" followed by a shout of "Prepare for the impact!" The excitement was palpable for about two hours.

During the end credits, the applause and cheers continued, reaching a climax when "Director, Screenplay, VFX: Takashi Yamazaki" appeared on the screen. After the screening, Tanaka shared, "I never thought a movie I starred in would receive such cheers like in my favorite scene from 'Cinema Paradiso.' Thank you very much." Yamazaki also left the theater deeply moved, saying, "The support screening was fun. I didn't expect such a reward. Thank you."

This support screening was characterized by attendees bringing costumes and support goods, with many carrying light sticks and fan goods featuring their favorite characters. Some fans even came dressed as characters from the film, such as Captain Hotta and former mechanic Tachibana, with impressive attention to detail. A man in his 30s wearing a work uniform embroidered with "Toyo Balloon" exclaimed, "It was the best. I've been looking forward to this." During a scene where an inflatable lifting device activates, he shouted, "That's our product!"

A man attending a support screening for the first time remarked, "The witty comments from everyone were amusing. It felt more like watching a play or attending a sports event than watching a movie. It's a fun experience that you have to try to understand."

A participant who had appeared as an extra during the filming said, "The synergy between the audience, the sound, and Mr. Tanaka was fantastic. It was a surprise and joy to see Director Yamazaki, and I'm glad I could convey my congratulations to him."

A woman who has been a Godzilla fan since she was five commented, "It was really fun. I made my own fan featuring the 'Shinden' fighter aircraft from the movie." She added that while the support screening had some challenging scenes due to the serious nature of the film, the lively participation and reactions from the audience made it enjoyable.

Producer Kazuaki Kishida was so overwhelmed by the enthusiastic response that he publicly considered the possibility of holding another event, indicating that the excitement for "Godzilla-1.0," which began screening on November 3rd last year, might continue for some time.
