On the 10th, local time in Los Angeles, at the Dolby Theatre during the "96th Academy Awards" ceremony, "Godzilla Minus One" was awarded the Visual Effects Award. This achievement is not only a first for Japanese cinema but also marks the first time an Asian film has accomplished such a feat, creating a new chapter in movie history.

Director Takashi Yamazaki, reading from a prepared speech in English, shared, "My career in film began 40 years ago, influenced by many works including 'Star Wars'. When I started working in 2001, I never dreamed I would stand on this stage. Receiving the nomination felt like entering the ring to face a formidable opponent, yet here I am."

He continued, "To all artists working outside of Hollywood, this proves that Hollywood is watching our work and that anyone has a chance. On behalf of everyone involved, I would like to report this win to producer Shuji Abe, who passed away in December last year," expressing his joy and gratitude.

"Godzilla Minus One" was nominated for the Visual Effects Award, an honor bestowed upon films that make exceptional use of visual effects (VFX). Past winners include cinematic masterpieces such as "Star Wars," "Titanic," and "Avatar." Directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who also handled VFX in collaboration with the visual production company Shirogumi, this marks the first time since Stanley Kubrick for "2001: A Space Odyssey" in 1969, 55 years ago, that a director has won the "Visual Effects Award," becoming the second director in history to achieve this.
