"In Another World with My Smartphone" Novel Concludes After 11-Year Run
The final chapter of the popular web novel In Another World with My Smartphone has been published on the novel-sharing platform "Shousetsuka ni Narou," marking the end of an 11-and-a-half-year journey since its serialization began in April 2013.
A Journey Through Fantasy
Written by Patora Fuyuhara, the story follows a protagonist who, after dying due to a divine mistake, starts a second life in a fantasy world with an upgraded body and a smartphone granted by God. The series captivated fans with its unique blend of technology and otherworldly adventure. It also inspired two anime seasons: the first aired from July to September 2017, and the second from April to June 2023.
Author’s Gratitude and Reflections
Fuyuhara expressed heartfelt thanks to fans, saying,
"Thank you for your readership and support over more than a decade! There’s still one more epilogue chapter to come, so please stay with me until the very end."
The web novel spans 636 chapters, including the epilogue, concluding the story while leaving a bittersweet feeling for both the author and fans. Reflecting on the journey, Fuyuhara commented,
"It’s over… I feel a sense of accomplishment, but also some sadness. That said, there are still books to publish—probably three more volumes, ending at Volume 33. The web version is just a prototype; additional content and details will be included in the book editions."
