In the game, rice farming is crucial. Players carry out each step with care—from plowing fields and planting seedlings to harvesting—to produce high-quality rice, which makes Sakuna, the protagonist and harvest goddess, stronger. This rice-growing element is central to the game’s progression, and the realistic depiction of rice cultivation became so popular that players joked the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries website was the ultimate guide. With over 1.5 million units shipped worldwide, the game performed well in sales and earned the nickname the "Rice Riot of the Reiwa Era."
