What Will Season 3 of SPY×FAMILY Cover from the Original Manga?
The SPY×FAMILY anime has adapted the following parts of the original manga:
Season 1
First Cour (12 episodes): Adapted from Chapter 1 to Chapter 17 (up to Volume 3).
Second Cour (13 episodes): Covered Chapter 18 to Chapter 38 (up to the beginning of Volume 7).
Season 2
All 12 episodes: Adapted from Chapter 39 to Chapter 59 (up to Volume 9).
Since each season covers roughly 3 manga volumes per cour (about 12–13 episodes), Season 3 could potentially cover Volumes 10–12 (around Chapters 60 to 84).
However, as of November 2024, only 14 volumes of the manga have been released. This may result in a slower-paced adaptation or the inclusion of original content in the anime.
In fact, the first SPY×FAMILY movie, SPY×FAMILY CODE: White, released in December 2023, featured a completely original storyline not found in the manga. The movie ultimately recorded a box office revenue of 6.26 billion yen (41.73 million USD) in Japan.
What is SPY×FAMILY?
SPY×FAMILY, a popular Japanese manga by Tatsuya Endo, has captivated audiences worldwide. Serialized biweekly on the Shonen Jump+ platform since March 2019, the series unfolds in a setting reminiscent of the Cold War, involving two rival nations, Westalis and Ostania. To maintain peace, Westalis’s top spy, codenamed "Twilight," is tasked with an operation called "Strix." Assuming the identity "Loid Forger," he adopts a telepathic girl named Anya and enters a marriage of convenience with Yor, an assassin, to infiltrate Eden Academy. The humorous and action-packed story follows their attempts to keep their true identities hidden while playing the roles of a family.
As of September 2024, the manga has released 14 volumes and has been adapted into multiple anime seasons, receiving widespread acclaim.
In any case, updates will be posted on the official website as they become available, so stay tuned for more news. Japan Anime News will also continue to bring you the latest updates.
