Studio Ghibli Park’s New Winter Illumination Features Moving Howl’s Moving Castle Display and Seasonal Delights

Studio Ghibli Park in Nagakute, Aichi, has launched its first "Winter Illumination" on the massive glass wall of Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, running from November 6, 2023, to February 3, 2024. Inspired by Howl’s Moving Castle, the animated illumination captures a stop-motion effect to make the castle "move" just like in the beloved film. The illumination runs from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on park open days and can be viewed from the nearby Grand Lawn area.

Alongside the illumination, Ghibli Park’s main areas, including Ghibli’s Grand Warehouse, Hill of Youth, and Valley of Witches, are adorned with winter-themed decorations for visitors to enjoy while exploring.

The park’s winter experience is enhanced by seasonal menu items at the Rotunda Kazegaoka café. Two special varieties of oden are offered: "Red Oden with Salted Rice Ball," featuring a regional Haccho miso broth, and "White Oden with Salted Rice Ball," served in a bonito and kombu broth. Each oden set includes five items (radish, egg, fish cake, hanpen, and konjac) along with one rice ball, available for ¥1,100 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on park open days.
