Megumi, who stayed behind in Tokyo alone, encounters Aoshi, who has come to the Kamiya Dojo seeking a rematch with Kenshin. Aoshi demands Megumi to tell him Kenshin's whereabouts. When Megumi tries to dodge his questions, Aoshi threatens her, saying, "If you don't answer, I'll kill you." At that moment, a certain man appears. Meanwhile, on his journey to Kyoto, Kenshin meets a young girl in the forest of Mount Hakone.
