Scriptwriter, director and executive producer Tatsuo Kudo said the stage production will feature a cast of 39 alongside music by Nao'ymt, a script developed with the cooperation of Naoki Yahagi, video, live performance, contemporary dance and elements of Noh.

Kudo said he hopes to share with the audience the moment when Masato, who carries the burden of humanity, is finally released after a long passage of time.


Cast Reflects on Life, Humanity and the Future

Jutta Yuki said he is pleased to take on the role of Masato in Phoenix: Future and hopes the production will encourage audiences to reconsider questions such as what it means to be human, what life is and what the future means.

Producer Ryo Oguri said the work addresses AI, life, war, civilization and humanity's future, and described the production as more than simply recreating a classic.

Narumi Yasuda said she hopes that after seeing the stage production, each audience member will take some time to think about what “life” and “the future” mean to them.

Moro Morooka said rereading Phoenix: Future made him feel that it is not merely a story about the distant future, but also a story about people living today.
