New NARUTO Anime Details to Be Revealed at NYCC 2026

Details regarding a brand-new NARUTO anime project will be officially revealed on October 11 (October 10 local time) during a stage panel at New York Comic Con 2026, one of the world's largest pop culture events held in New York City. The new anime project was originally scheduled to air on TV Tokyo for four consecutive weeks starting September 3, 2023. However, in August 2023, it was announced that the broadcast would be postponed to further improve production quality, with no updates provided until now.

When first announced, the project was created to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the anime series' premiere in 2022. Although story details were kept under wraps, generating immense fan anticipation, the official website stated in August 2023: "As a 20th-anniversary work being produced for the first time in approximately six years and five months, we have made the decision to delay the broadcast period in order to further elevate its quality."

At New York Comic Con 2026, the panel will feature world-first reveals regarding the brand-new anime, as well as the latest updates on the upcoming NARUTO Card Game scheduled for release in 2027.

Special guests appearing on stage include Junko Takeuchi (voice of Naruto Uzumaki) and Noriaki Sugiyama (voice of Sasuke Uchiha, Naruto's rival and best friend), alongside Yoshihiko Tominaga, Executive Producer at PIERROT FILMS under Studio Pierrot, which has long produced the NARUTO anime series. Furthermore, the stage event will be live-streamed worldwide on the official NARUTO / BORUTO YouTube channel starting at 6:00 AM JST on October 11.

Based on the original manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump (SHUEISHA) from 1999 to 2014, NARUTO follows the journey of ninja Naruto Uzumaki as he overcomes fierce battles and past ties to achieve his dream of becoming Hokage, the leader of the Hidden Leaf Village. Renowned globally, the manga has over 250 million copies in circulation worldwide.

The TV anime adaptation began broadcasting on TV Tokyo affiliates in 2002 and continued as NARUTO: Shippuden from 2007 through March 2017, marking its 20th anime anniversary in October 2022. The franchise has released 11 anime films to date, with the TV anime currently available in over 145 countries and regions worldwide. Beyond apps, video games, and merchandise, the franchise continues to expand through exhibitions, 2.5D musicals, music festivals, and Kabuki adaptations.
