Live Action NARUTO Film Launches Global Auditions as Masashi Kishimoto Says, “I Can’t Wait for a Miraculous Meeting with New Actors”

The live action NARUTO movie has officially moved into full production, with a global casting search now underway for the main roles of Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura, the central members of Team 7.

The project is a Hollywood live action film adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto’s globally popular manga NARUTO. It will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for the film Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Lionsgate, which is producing the film, announced that it is accepting auditions from around the world for the main cast as preproduction begins in earnest.

The roles currently being cast are the three central members of Team 7, Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. Casting for other characters is also expected to proceed gradually in the future.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton Shares His Excitement

To mark the start of the casting call, Cretton posted on his social media account, “Kishimoto Sensei’s story has inspired generations of fans around the world. It is an honor to bring that world and those characters to the big screen for the first time as a live action film. I’m incredibly excited to launch this global casting search for Team 7 and to express the amazing world of NARUTO!”

Original creator Kishimoto also shared his joy, saying, “Right now, miracles are happening one after another for me,” and added, “The fact that NARUTO is truly, really becoming a Hollywood movie, and that Destin Daniel Cretton will direct it. I still can’t believe it.”

He continued, “If this many miracles have happened, then let’s wish for even more miracles. I am looking forward to a miraculous encounter with passionate and wonderful actors. I can’t wait to meet the characters in the movie!”
